Siri AI opens to all developers in iOS 27.3

On November 3, 2026, Apple opened Siri AI to every developer through a Developer Preview in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas. Any app can now bring its content and actions into Siri AI with App Intents, although apps using it cannot reach the App Store until spring.

Key facts

  • Apple announced on November 3, 2026 that Siri AI is open to all developers through a new Developer Preview in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas.
  • Apps connect through App Intents, so people can ask in their own words and Siri AI runs the app’s custom actions, such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order.
  • New “skills” let developers teach Siri AI to combine several actions into one experience for complex requests.
  • Apple says the features reach customers in a few months, with App Store submission opening in the spring. Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.

What happened

Apple used its developer news page to announce that “any developer” can now integrate an app with Siri AI, the new version of Siri the company describes as more capable, conversational and personal. The preview builds on App Intents, the framework apps already use to expose actions to Siri and Shortcuts. With it, an app’s content and actions can use Siri AI’s newer abilities: understanding personal context, awareness of what is on screen, and natural language.

Apple added two more pieces. Skills let a developer describe how several actions fit together, so a single request can trigger a sequence. And Siri AI can now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not only items that match one of Apple’s existing schemas. Apple’s own apps, such as Calendar, Mail, Maps, Notes and Reminders, are getting these capabilities first.

Macworld notes that Apple first promised this kind of App Intents integration in 2024, and calls this the first time developers have had real access to the new Siri. For now, developers can test their work in Xcode or with internal TestFlight builds, but they cannot publish these apps on the App Store or share them with external testers.

Why it matters

Until now, an assistant on a phone could only do as much as its maker allowed. Opening Siri AI to every app means the assistant can, in principle, act inside the services people already use: a delivery app, a restaurant booking app, a to-do list. That moves Siri closer to the agent style tools that run tasks across apps instead of just answering questions.

For everyday users the timing matters. The features are in beta, customers get them in a few months, and Apple warns that server side features, including Siri AI, have daily usage limits, with expanded access for a fee in the future. Users in the EU will have to wait longer on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

How to try it

The developer tools need a beta and Xcode, but you can prepare for an assistant that acts on your calendar and reminders today. Our free Plan my week prompt turns your commitments and goals into a realistic week, which is exactly the kind of structured list an assistant can later file into Calendar and Reminders.

Open the prompt and fill in the four fields: your fixed commitments, your goals for the week, the free hours you have each day, and when you work best (morning, afternoon or evening). For example: commitments “team call Monday 10:00, dentist Wednesday 16:30, school run every day at 8:00”, goals “finish the client proposal, two gym sessions, call the insurer”, free hours “3 on weekdays, 5 on Saturday”, best time “morning”.

Paste the result into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Check that each day has one clear top priority, that there are buffers between tasks, and that the plan respects the hours you gave. On an iPhone, you can then copy each item into Reminders with a time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Siri AI Developer Preview?

It is an early version, in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas, that lets any developer connect an app to Siri AI through App Intents. Apps can expose their content and custom actions, and use skills to combine several actions into one request.

When can I use Siri AI with third party apps?

Apple says the features will first ship to customers in a few months, and App Store submission opens in the spring. Until then, developers can only test in Xcode and internal TestFlight builds, according to Macworld.

Is Siri AI available in the EU?

Not yet on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on those systems and that it is working with the EU to find a path forward. It is also not available to users under 13.
